DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

Recliner

Manual

Reclining seats are available on bucket seats. Adjustment occurs through lifting the reclining handle, located on the outboard side of the seat.

Release of the handle locks the seat in place. Spring action will return the seat back to its full up position when the handle is lifted and back pressure is removed.

If the recliner assembly is removed, refer to Recliner, Manual in the Adjustments portion of this section for service procedures.

Power

The power recliner provides tilt adjustment of the seat back. Pressing the seat regulator control switch moves the seat back forward or back. The power recliner assembly is a modular design and components cannot be serviced or replaced individually, except for the motor.

The only authorized service permitted on the recliner mechanism is the following:

  1. Tightening of all retaining screws to specification indicated in Removal and Installation procedures.

  1. Replacement (in entirety) of a damaged or nonfunctional recliner assembly.

  1. Removal of any foreign material, such as tie straps, pieces of foam and trim.
