Charging System

The electrical system is a negative ground system consisting of:

• integral generator (GEN) (10346)
• voltage regulator (VR) (10316)
• charge indicator
• storage battery (10655)
• necessary wiring and cables

Refer to Bronco or F-Series Electrical and Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual for schematics and locations of components and wiring.

With the ignition switch lock cylinder (11582) in the RUN position, the following conditions occur:

• Voltage is applied through the charge indicator I circuit to the voltage regulator.
• Voltage turns on the voltage regulator allowing current to flow from the sense A circuit to the generator field coil.
