REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Horn Switch

 
 

With Air Bag

Removal

  1. Remove steering wheel (3600). Refer to Section 11-04.

  1. NOTE: On steering wheels with speed control, three screws attach speed control actuator switches (9C888) to the steering wheel.

    Remove four screws in steering wheel, two at 3 o'clock and two at 9 o'clock position.





  1. Remove wiring harness retainer (14A163) from the blade connector at 12 o'clock position in steering wheel.

  1. Remove electrical tape from wire connectors in steering wheel, adjacent to each horn button and hardware (13B802). Lift wiring out of wiring harness retainers in back cover of steering wheel.





  1. Remove back cover of steering wheel by detaching wiring harness retainers at 11, 1, and 6 o'clock positions.





  1. Remove horn button and hardware to be serviced by carefully squeezing together the two retainer tabs and pushing the horn blow switch (13A875) up through the steering wheel. Disconnect horn button wires at each wire connector.





Installation

  1. Follow removal procedures in reverse order.

 

Without Air Bag

Removal

  1. Unsnap steering wheel pad horn switch (13A805) from steering wheel by grasping the sides of the steering wheel pad horn switch and pulling toward yourself.

  1. Disconnect the horn relay and bracket (13853) and speed control cable (9A840). Remove the steering wheel pad horn switch from the steering wheel.

Installation

  1. Connect the horn relay and bracket and speed control cable. Install the steering wheel pad horn switch to steering wheel.

  1. Grasp sides of steering wheel pad horn switch and snap onto steering wheel.
