REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Transmission Range (TR) Sensor

Removal

  1. Disconnect battery ground cable (14301).

  1. Raise and support the vehicle.

  1. Remove the shift cable and bracket (7E395)from themanual control lever (7A256).

  1. Place themanual control lever in neutral.

  1. Disconnect electrical harness from TR sensor.

  1. Remove two retaining bolts.

  1. Remove transmission range (TR) sensor.

Installation

  1. Ensure manual control lever is in the NEUTRAL position.

  1. Install TR sensor and loosely install two retaining bolts.

  1. Align TR sensor slots using Transmission Range (TR) Sensor (MLPS) Alignment Tool T92P-70010-AH.

  1. Tighten retaining bolts to 6-8 Nm (55-75 lb-in) for E4OD and to 7-10 Nm (62-89 lb-in) for 4R70W and remove tool.

  1. Connect electrical harness to TR sensor.

  1. Install nut retaining manual control lever to TR sensor. Tighten to 27-39 Nm (20-29 lb-ft) for E4OD and to 30-35 Nm (22-26 lb-ft) for 4R70W.

  1. Install theshift cable and bracket on themanual control lever.

  1. Lower the vehicle.

  1. Connect battery ground cable.

  1. Check for proper operation with parking brake engaged. The engine should start only in park or neutral.
