Driveshaft Alignment

For adjustment procedures including driveshaft and coupling shaft runout and balance, refer to Component Tests or Driveshaft Runout and Balance in the Adjustments portion of Section 05-00.

Before adjusting components for correct driveshaft and coupling shaft alignment, be sure to check the following.

  1. Alignment of drivelines must be accomplished with the empty vehicle sitting on a hard level surface.

  1. All angle measurements must be made on a surface or the component which is either parallel to or perpendicular to the centerline of the component being measured.

  1. Angle measurements must be made with either a spirit level or an inclinometer. Angle values given in Section 05-00 are nominal values with a tolerance of ± 0.25 degree.
