Gasoline Engines
The multiport fuel injection SFI system is classified as a multi-point, pulse time, mass airflow, sequential fuel injection system. It is used in the following engine applications:
All other engine applications use the multiport fuel injection (MFI) system, which is classified as a multi-point, pulse time, speed density, fuel injection system.
Diesel Engine
The 7.3L diesel engine is classified as a multi-point, pulse time, speed density fuel injection system.
To maintain the required exhaust emission levels, the fuel metering system must be in proper operating condition and adjusted to the specifications listed in/on the following sources:
Additional engine performance checks are required to keep the exhaust emissions at the specified minimum pollutant level. Refer to Section 00-03 for these performance checks and their recommended intervals.
