REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Fuel Charging Wiring

 WARNING: RED-STRIPED WIRE HARNESS CARRIES 115V DC. SEVERE ELECTRICAL SHOCK MAY BE RECEIVED. DO NOT PIERCE.

 CAUTION: Do not pierce engine electrical wires or damage to the harness may occur.

 

Removal

  1. Disconnect battery ground cable or cables if applicable to multiple battery vehicles.

  1. Remove valve cover (6582). Refer to Section 03-01D.

  1. Disconnect wire connectors from fuel injectors (9F593).

  1. Using long needle-nose pliers, remove wire connects from glow plugs. Do not pull on wires when disconnecting glow plug wire connectors.

  1. Disconnect wire connector from valve cover gasket (6584) using care not to damage valve cover gasket.

  1. Remove fuel charging wiring.

 

Installation

  1. NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the powertrain control module (PCM) (12A650) relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.

    Follow removal procedures in reverse order.
