REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Oil Pump, High-Pressure

 

Removal

  1. Loosen the compressor manifold hose clamps and remove the compressor manifold.

  1. Remove the oil from the high-pressure oil pump reservoir using Rotunda Vacuum Tester 014-R1058 or equivalent.

  1. Remove the fuel filter (9155). Refer to Section 10-01B.

  1. Remove the high-pressure manifold supply hoses from the high-pressure oil pump.

  1. Disconnect wire connector from fuel control pressure regulator.

  1. Remove nut securing injection control pressure solenoid if replacing high-pressure oil pump. Remove solenoid and fuel pressure regulator.

  1. Remove the cover plate and bolts at the crankcase front cover.

  1. Remove the oil pump drive sprocket bolt and washer.

  1. Remove the retaining bolts from oil reservoir.

  1. Remove the high-pressure oil pump.

Installation

  1. Install the high-pressure oil pump and gasket.

  1. Install the retaining bolts to the oil reservoir.

  1. Tighten bolts to 16-20 Nm (12-15 lb-ft).

  1. NOTE: Make sure the oil pump drive sprocket is fully seated on the shaft of the high-pressure oil pump before installing the bolt and washer or sprocket may not seat properly. The end of high-pressure oil pump shaft should be flush with the front face of the oil pump drive sprocket.

    Install the oil pump drive sprocket, bolt and washer. Tighten bolt to 129 Nm (95 lb-ft).

  1. Apply RTV sealer to crankcase front cover and install cover plate and retaining bolts.

  1. If removed, install injection control pressure regulator. Tighten regulator to 47 Nm (35 lb-ft).

  1. Install injection control pressure solenoid and retaining nut. Tighten nut to 6 Nm (53 lb-in).

  1. Connect wire connector to injection control pressure solenoid.

  1. Install high-pressure manifold supply hoses to high-pressure oil pump. Tighten hose fittings to 26 Nm (19 lb-ft).

  1. Install the fuel filter. Refer to Section 10-01B.

  1. Install compressor manifold and compressor manifold hose clamps. Tighten hose clamps securely.

  1. Refill oil reservoir with clean engine oil.
