DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

Intake Manifold

The intake manifold (9424) is a two-piece (upper and lower) aluminum casting. Runner lengths are tuned to optimize engine torque and power output. The intake manifold provides mounting flanges for the throttle body (9E926), fuel injection supply manifold (9F792) and accelerator control bracketry, idle air control valve (IAC valve) (9F715) and the EGR external pressure valve (9F483). Vacuum taps are provided to support various engine accessories. Pockets for the fuel injectors (9F593) are machined to prevent both air and fuel leakage. The pockets in which the fuel injectors are mounted are placed to direct the injector fuel spray immediately in front of each engine intake valve (6507).
