IN-VEHICLE SERVICE

Rocker Arm

 
 

Removal

  1. Remove valve cover (6582) and valve cover gasket (6584). Refer to Valve Cover and Gasket in the In-Vehicle Service portion of this section.

  1. Remove the valve rocker arm bolt, rocker arm seat (6A528), and rocker arm (6564). If removing a pair of rocker arms, also remove rocker arm fulcrum guide (6A588).

 

Installation

  1. Apply Multi-Purpose Grease D0AZ-19584-AA or equivalent meeting Ford specifications ESB-M1C93-B and ESR-M1C159-A to the top of the valve stem.

  1. Apply Multi-Purpose Grease D0AZ-19584-AA or equivalent meeting Ford specifications ESB-M1C93-B and ESR-M1C159-A to the rocker arm seat, the rocker arm fulcrum guide, and the rocker arm seat socket in the rocker arm.

  1. If removed, position the rocker arm fulcrum guide.

  1. Install rocker arm, rocker arm seat, and bolt.

  1. Adjust the valve clearance. Refer to Valve Clearance in the Adjustments portion of this section.

  1. Install valve cover. Refer to Valve Cover and Gasket in the In-Vehicle Service portion of this section.
