Engine

The 4.9L (300 cubic inch) sequential fuel injection (SFI) engine (6007) is of the in-line six-cylinder overhead valve type with the following features:

• Seven main bearings supporting the engine.
• Crankshaft (6303) made of special high grade cast iron.
• Aluminum pistons with integral steel struts to control expansion.
• Stamped steel rocker arms (6564) that pivot on powdered metal cylindrical fulcrums.
• Hydraulic valve tappets (6500).
• A complete circle (not split) crankshaft rear oil seal (6701).
• Liquid cooling through cooling jackets cast integral with the cylinder block (6010) and cylinder head (6049). Cylinder block jackets are of the full-length type that extend to the bottom of the cylinder bores.
• EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube (9D477) with hose nipples for EGR transducer hoses.
• EGR transducer (9J433) (delta PFE sensor) and bracket mounted on upper intake manifold.
• Intake air temperature sensor (IAT sensor) (12A697) relocated from lower intake manifold to air cleaner outlet tube (9B659).
• A heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) (9F472) on each exhaust manifold just above the exhaust pipe flange.
