REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Latch, Split Back Bench Seat, F-150, F-250, F-350 SuperCab

Removal

  1. Remove seat from vehicle by removing nuts attaching front seat tracks (61704) to front floor pan (11135).

  1. Remove attaching screws and front seat back latch lower cover (62768) from front seat back (64810).

  1. Remove back trim to gain access to latch mechanism.

  1. Remove seat back-to-cushion attaching bolt and washer.

  1. Remove two screws and bundling strap connecting the lever to latch pawl.

  1. Unhook rod from lever and pawl.

  1. Cut and remove the pawl pivot pin.

  1. Disconnect spring from front seat back frame (61018).

Installation

  1. Insert a new pivot pin through holes in seat back and pawl.

  1. Flatten end of pin to retain into front seat back frame.

  1. Hook end of spring onto front seat back frame.

  1. Insert end of latch rod through hole in pawl.

  1. Push latch rod attachment screws through holes in attaching tabs on rod.

  1. Install to front seat back frame.

  1. Insert ends of rod into proper holes in the lever and pawl.

  1. Install untrimmed front seat back frame to cushion and adjust gap between pawl and striker by rotating center portion of the rod assembly.

    The gap between the pawl and striker must be 1.27-1.77mm (0.05-0.07 inch).

  1. Remove front seat back frame from cushion and retrim.

  1. Install trimmed seat back to cushion by inserting attaching bolt through hole at end of the arm sticking out of the trimmed back.

  1. Slide washer over the end of the bolt, slide back onto inboard pivot pin and drive attachment bolt. Tighten bolt to 25-43 Nm (18-32 lb-ft). Recheck gap and adjust if necessary.

  1. Install seat into vehicle. Tighten nuts attaching front seat tracks to front floor pan to 34-46 Nm (25-34 lb-ft).

  1. Position trim cover and install two screws.

    Adjust cable assembly, if required, to produce the 2.5mm (0.10 inch) gap between the front seat back latch pawl and the front seat back latch striker (62638).
